Wavy field guide

Electric scooter or moped?

They may look related, but they belong in different legal lanes.

01

Electric scooter: shared-path scale

The county’s updated rules allow electric play vehicles under defined path conditions, including a 15 mph cap and pedestrian right of way.

02

Moped: road vehicle rules

A qualifying 49cc moped follows traffic law, requires a valid license or permit and DOT helmet, and stays off sidewalks and multi-use paths.

03

Choose for the trip

Use the electric scooter for compact, approved path-and-neighborhood movement. Choose the moped only when comfortable operating a two-wheel road vehicle.

A route guide, not legal advice

Rules and posted conditions can change. Follow current signs, official county materials and law-enforcement direction.
